The MMSU Research Directorate convened more than 60 MMSU faculty and full-time researchers for a training workshop on writing journal articles at the University Review Center on February 21-22.
The RD initiated the two-day event to strengthen and sustain the regular publication of the MMSU S&T Journal, the official scientific publication of the University and disseminate research results in the scientific community. Participants were researchers whose research projects were completed in 2021 and whose results are not published yet.
Dr. Bjorn S. Santos, RD director and editor-in-chief of the S&T Journal, was the lecturer during the training. He discussed topics on how to structure the journal article based on the guidelines and format of the S&T journal. In addition, he also imparted drafting tips for developing journal articles and introduced additional online tools that can help the researchers write their articles. Furthermore, Dr. Santos also gave insights on how to respond positively to reviewers’ comments.
At the end of the training workshop, about 40 articles were submitted by the participants. These will be subjected to peer review for possible publication in the journal.
