Brief Description
This is the study 4 of the project "Varietal Development, Evaluation and Maintenance of Legumes in the Ilocos".

The goal of this study is to conduct field testing of new promising varieties of peanut developed by government agencies and seed companies and to generate adequate reliable basic information as basis for variety recommendation.

The purpose are as follows: (1) to evaluate and select promising entries of peanut that is high yielding, disease resistant and acceptable to the farmers; (2) to identify promising entries and to get conclusive results as basis for recommendation to the National Seed Industry Council (NSIC) as national, regional or local variety under specific conditions; and (3) to improve the yield and other characteristics of peanut suited to our local condition.

Outputs would be the selected and identified promising lines that are high yielding, disease resistant and acceptable to the farmers and ready to be recommended for approval to the National Seed Industry Council (NSIC) for approval and release for commercial planting.

Target beneficiaries are the peanut growers, feed millers and processors.

Expected Output
Selected and identified promising lines of peanut that are high yielding, disease resistant and acceptable to the farmers and ready to be recommended for approval to the National Seed Industry Council (NSIC) for approval and release for commercial planting.
