Biography

Graduated with the degree in Bachelor of Science in Biology in the year 2001 at the MMSU-College of Arts and Sciences, Pilar Carolyn V. Pascual continued her education by obtaining 21 Professional Education units at the MMSU-College of Teacher Education. She took and passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers in 2002. She worked at the Northern Foods Corporation-Quality Control Department as a Line Crew from February to April 2002.  In the year 2003, she worked as Science Aide at the MMSU-College of Aquatic Sciences and Applied Technology (CASAT) under the project “Culture of Economically Important Invertebrates and Finfishes in Ilocos Norte” and a Science Research Assistant from July 2004 to May 2014.  Her research involvement includes gender and development, resource assessment, capture fisheries and hatchery related studies in aquatic sciences.  She was also involved in research and extension projects such as the Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry and Natural Resources Project (AFFNR), Philippine National Aquasilviculture Project and the Application of Coral Transplantation Technology Project.  She is a 1 STAR Scientific SCUBA diver specializing in Coral Transplantation Technology under the Philippine Association of Underwater Activities (PAUA). She co-authored one research article published in the Journal of Applied and Physical Sciences in 2015 titled “Traditional fishing gears and methods of Ilocos Norte, Philippines”.  She is a graduate of MS Biology in the year 2019 at the MMSU-Graduate School under the CHED-Faculty Development Program II Scholarship Grant. She shifted to the teaching force of MMSU-CASAT in June 2014 to present as an Instructor II. She teaches microbiology, zoology, botany, malacology, anatomy and physiology, developmental biology, and ecology subjects. She started her Ph.D. in Biology at the Central Luzon State University 1st semester AY 2021-2022 wherein she plans to specialize in molecular taxonomy, animal physiology, and developmental biology.
