Dr. Cheryll Didi Nellie N. Obra is a multi-faceted professional as reflected by her selection as 2017 MMSU Outstanding Teacher Awardee during its 40th anniversary celebration. Moreover, she was selected as one of the three finalists for the 2017 Most Outstanding Physical Therapist Award by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). She was nominated to the prestigious award by the Philippine Physical Therapy Association, the only accredited professional organization for physical therapists.

She is a degree holder of Doctor of Philosophy Major in Development Education taken at the Divine Word College of Laoag. She finished her Master of Science in Physical Therapy Major in Orthopedics at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) and Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy at the Our Lady of Fatima University.

She is presently the Chairman of the Department of Physical Therapy since 2014. She also served as the College Secretary of the College of Health Sciences from 2012 – 2017.

She currently serves as the Vice Chairperson of the University Research Ethics Review Board (URERB) since 2015. She co-authored the URERB Standard Operating Procedures Manual required for its Level I accreditation by the Philippine Health Research Ethics Board.   

She has engaged in research activities despite her teaching and administrative designations. Of her completed researches, one has been funded by the Philippine Council for Heath Research and Development–Region 1 Health Research and Development Consortium and four by the Mariano Marcos State University. Of these, she has published four research articles to peer-reviewed journals.

In line with the thrust of the university, she has developed two (2) IEC materials registered with ISSN that are being used in community extension. Currently, she acts as the program leader of the Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Program since 2014. The CBR program is the flagship extension program of the PT Department that had been implemented in the City of Batac, Paoay, and San Nicolas.

Moreover, she has other engagements outside of the university. She was designated by the PRC–Continuing Professional Development Council of Physical Therapy as one of the eight (8) CPD Monitors nationwide. Also, CHED – Region 1 appointed her as a member of the Regional Quality Assurance Team (RQAT) for Physical Therapy. In addition to these, she was tapped as peer reviewer and external referee of a scientific journal.
