Biography

Dr. Lawrence A. Eclarin is an Associate Professor of the Department of Mathematics in the College of Arts and Sciences at the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU). She finished her PhD Mathematics at the University of the Philippines (UP)–Diliman in 2018, MS  Mathematics at UP–Baguio in 2006, and BS Mathematics at UP–Diliman in 1998. She is presently designated as Chief for International Accreditation at MMSU.

Dr. Eclarin has been a member of the MMSU University Research Ethics and Review Board (URERB) since 2015. She is also a member of professional organizations in mathematics, mathematics education and statistics.

Dr. Eclarin was the principal investigator of the USAID STRIDE funded research project on local weaving in collaboration with the Nagbacalan Loomweavers Multi-Purpose Cooperative which developed new patterns and designs for local weaving using mathematical concepts. The results of the project is utilized in the conduct of trainings and activities relating to the weaving practice. Her research interests also include Mathematical Crystallography, Color Symmetry and Ethnomathematics. A result of her published work titled, Transitive Perfect Colorings for 2-Uniform Tilings, in Science Diliman in 2014 was used as a cover for the journal.

Aside from her involvement in research, she is also involved in the extension activities of the University and serves as program accreditor for the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc.

Dr. Eclarin is the coordinator for the DOST STRAND Project and the Philippine Consortium for Science, Mathematics and Technology in MMSU.
