Brief Description
The project assess the adaptability of selected fruit trees in the rehabilitation of feldspar mining area in Barangay Caroan, Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte. This will determine if the introduced fruit trees in the area have great effect in the reclamation of the feldspar area.

The major activities are:

  1. Identification of feldspar mining site area of Ilocos Norte through the Quarry Department of the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (Anticipated Result: List of mining areas of Ilocos Norte)
  2. Meeting with the owners of the feldspar-mining companies (Anticipated Result: Approval from the owners to conduct the research study in their mining site)
  3. Visitation of selected feldspar mining site/area (Anticipated result: Accessibility of the area and suitability of the site to conduct the research study)
  4. Soil sampling (Anticipated result: Chemical component of feldspar mining site)
  5. Planting of fruit trees (Anticipated result: Adaptability of the introduced fruit trees as rehabilitation material)
  6. Data gathering (Anticipated result: Data on physical and chemical properties of the mining site; health and vigor of plants; survival; growth characteristics; and nutrient deficiencies)
 
Expected Output
  1. Identified fruit trees adapted to actual feldspar mining site
  2. List of recommended fruit tree species for the rehabilitation of feldspar mining site
