Brief Description
The study will be able to identify the tourism attractions and services of the province and create an overall picture of how Ilocos Norte Tourism is performing. Moreover, the study would be able to depict how concentrated or dispersed the reach of the tourism program of the province, thus, provide an adequate data and information to the provincial policy makers on how the tourism program of the province can be boosted more.

The study will focus only on the profile of tourist attractions and primary tourism support services in the twenty-one (21) municipalities and two (2) cities of Ilocos Norte for the current year using GIS.

The study will use the descriptive research. A structured survey questionnaire designed for the local government units will be used for them to identify and provide description on the different attractions and support services available in their locality. Information on the profile of the attractions and support services particularly on the accommodation facilities, food and beverage establishments, travel trade sectors, transportation, entertainment and ancillary services of the twenty-one (21) municipalities and two (2) cities will be collected.

The research will also use the Geographic Information System (GIS), a computer system designed to capture, store and manage the geographical data of every attractions and support services in each locality. Thus, through the aid of the GIS, a spatial information and detailed map will be produced.

Data gathered from 21 municipalities and 2 cities will be combined and presented in tabular, graphical and textual forms. These will be treated with descriptive statistical tools such as percentages and frequency counts with the use of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and MS Excel. Graphs or visual presentation will also be done in order to explain, analyze and interpret the gathered data.
