Dr. Joselito I. Rosario is a faculty of the Department of Forestry of the College of Agriculture, Food and Sustainable Development (CAFSD) and holds an academic rank of Professor VI. He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy in Forestry (Forest Resources Management) from the University of the Philippines at Los Baños, College, Laguna, Philippines under the Accelerated S&T Human Resource Development Program/Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (ASTHRDP/DOST-SEI) Scholarship Grant. He finished his Master’s degree in Forestry (Forest Resources) with minor in Forest Soils at the North Carolina State University, Raleigh, North Carolina, USA through a Food and Agriculture of the United Nations (FAO-UN) fellowship.
Dr. Rosario is actively involved in research particularly on the following topics: propagation and cultural management of various tree species (dipterocarps, premium timber and lesser-used tree species including bamboo) both in the nursery and plantation; assessment and mapping of biofuel source tree species, nipa stands, and premium indigenous tree species. Most of these researches are collaborative and multidisciplinary with funding support from the general appropriations, and from national agencies and international organizations such as DOST-PCARRD, and USAID-STRIDE. He has presented a number of these researches in local, national and international scientific fora and has published his works in refereed and non-refereed journals. Presently, he is also the project leader of the DENR-funded project “Establishment, Restoration, Maintenance and Protection of Nipa Stand for Bioethanol Production”.
