MISHAEL JOY S. BARRERA is a full-time faculty member at the College of Business, Economics and Accountancy of the Mariano Marcos State University in the City of Batac, Ilocos Norte since June 2012. She finished both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics from the University of the Philippines School of Economics (UPSE) in November 2007 and June 2017, respectively. She also obtained another Bachelor’s Degree in International Agriculture and Food Studies major in Bio-business Studies from the Tokyo University of Agriculture in March 2012. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Economics at Ritsumeikan University, Japan as a recipient of the prestigious Monbukagakusho (MEXT) Scholarship. She is teaching International Economics, Econometrics, Research Methods in Economics, Managerial Economics, Development Economics, and Thesis Writing in the undergraduate level.
She is involved in several research projects of the college and the university including the Market Analysis of Bolinao Native Chicken, Citizen Satisfaction Index System (CSIS), and Satisfaction Surveys of Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCC), Graduate Tracer Studies, among others, and is presently a technology transfer officer engaged in the commercialization of the university’s research-based technologies. She has a deep passion to actively engage in academic research, to investigate topics on the frontier of economic analysis, and to combine the technical aspects of agriculture with the business and economic aspects of management, marketing, and finance.
