Biography

Joyce R. Tolentino entered the service in 2007.  She graduated with the degree BA in Sociology (With Distinction) in MMSU and recently finished her MA in Sociology at the University of the Philippines-Diliman.  She holds a license in Environmental Planning since 2019.

 Her research interests include human rights, vulnerability assessment and ecological assessment.  She was involved as in various projects such as the Sustainable Coral Reefs Ecosystems Management Program (SCREMP) in Agoo-Damortis Protected Landscape and Seascape (ADPLS) in 2014, Establishment of Marine Protected Area Networking in Lingayen Gulf Marine Key Biodiversity Areas under the USAID-ECOFISH in 2015, Assessment, Biological Evaluation and Phytochemical Screening of Economically Important Seaweeds in Ilocos Region in 2016 and the Sustainable Coral Reef Ecosystems Management Program (SCREMP) Hundred Islands National Park (HINP) Coastal Resource Assessment, Mapping, and Zonation, Phase 3 with Sedimentation Study and Vulnerability Assessment Survey using Tool for Understanding Resiliency of Fisheries (TURF) in 2017.

 In her involvement in research, she received various awards such as Best Paper (Social Sciences Category) for the paper The ‘Good Life’ Behind Glass Windows and Ornate Hardwood Doors during the MMSU Agency In-House Research Review and Planning Workshop in 2008.  Moreover, she also received the AFMA Best R & D Paper Silver Award for Applied Research – Technology Generation/Information Generation Category from the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Agricultural Research for their research titled “Resource Assessment, Biological Evaluation and Phytochemical Screening of Economically Important Seaweeds of Ilocos Region” during the 30th National Research Symposium held on November 7-8, 2018 at the PICC.

 Ms. Tolentino served as College Secretary of MMSU-CASAT from 2013-2018. Currently, she is Instructor II and is designated as Planning and Development Coordinator of CASAT.  She obtained his 1 STAR Scientific SCUBA Diving Course Specializing in Coral Transplantation Technology under Philippine Association of Underwater Activities (PAUA) in 2015 and is a licensed Open Water SCUBA diver.
