Biography
Dr. Jemmarie G. Suetos is a graduate of Doctor of Philosophy in Agricultural Science verticalized to her Bachelor's and Master's degrees. She is an Assistant Professor II at Mariano Marcos State University and also holds an administrative designation. She also teach students in their masters degree. She is appointed as an Honorary Adjunct Professor in Lovely Professional University, Punjab, India, one of the internationalization linkages of the university. She is currently affiliated internationally through Khetivalah foundation and IFERP based in India.
She worked as a researcher at the Department of Agriculture (DA-National) for seven years before joining the academe. She managed to spearhead and collaborate with several types of research which included rice breeding (Next-Gen, MET, MAAT, PVS, NCT); rice seed technology commercialization; Green Super Rice evaluation; organic rice production; pigmented rice characterization; germplasm collection of traditional upland rice; System of Rice Intensification, entomopathogenic fungi (Metarhizium anisopliae) effect to rice and vegetables; organic fertilizer (vermicompost and Bio-N) research and production; organic foliar (Carrageenan, and Naturally Fermented Solutions) research and production; and mushroom (Pleurotus and volvariela species) tissue culture, and production; stevia; and modified farming systems. As a researcher and extensionist, her expertise in her field gives her a chance to serve as a technical resource speaker for schools, farm communities, and NGA's. She was recognized as one of the kapuri-puring empleyado (technical category-COS) in 2018.
She is a full time faculty member of MMSU-Dingras and an affiliate faculty of the graduate school. Among the subjects she handles include farming systems, organic agriculture, industrial, post-harvest and seed technology, principles of genetics, plant physiology, biotechnology, technical writing, advance vegetable production and technology and agricultural policy.
She is an active member of linkages to professional organizations like the Philippine Association of Agriculturists (PAA), Philippine Association of Research Managers (PHILARM) and five others. She is a paper reviewer and a research consultant for the two private organizations in the Philippines. Also, she is a member of the International advisory and technical review committee of the two international private organizations.
She completed her doctoral degree through a scholarship granted by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
As she shifted from the national research institution to the academe, her enthusiasm for research reflects to her spontaneous endeavor to research as she initiated the first research on the development of an organic strawberry production in ISU, Cabagan, Isabela.
Presently, she is a project leader in strawberry research in Ilocos Norte. She is a co-study leader of the two projects: Maximization and optimization of pigeon pea Nutri-based products as a source of livelihood, and dehydrated fruit and vegetables using the multi heat pump dryer machine.
She usually presents a research results in a various techno fora at the regional, national, and international levels. Among her research output are her international publications on strawberries and rice. She holds several National Certificates provided by TESDA for her skills trade where she is also an accredited competency assessor for NC III in Agricultural Crop Production, NC III in Horticulture and Organic Agriculture Production.
