Biography
Leonardo Daquioag Tejano currently holds the position of Assistant Professor at Mariano Marcos State University. Within the academic milieu of the university, Asst. Prof. Tejano actively engages in instructional responsibilities across various educational levels. His roles encompass teaching elementary students at the University Laboratory Schools, major and professional education courses within the College of Teacher Education, and courses under the program Master of Arts in Education-Ilokano Studies of MMSU Graduate School.
Tejano's scholarly interests demonstrate a breadth of diversity, spanning language education, mother tongue-based multilingual education, special education, cultural education, Ilokano and Amianan studies, and Indigenous studies. His expertise has garnered recognition, resulting in invitations to serve as a distinguished trainer and speaker at numerous local and national seminars, workshops, trainings, and conferences.
Beyond his instructional and research responsibilities, Tejano has made contributions to the literary and journalistic spheres. His compositions have been featured in publications such as Bannawag and Liwayway, showcasing a dimension of creativity integral to his academic persona. Additionally, he has contributed articles to Rappler, a leading digital media company in the Philippines.
In his capacity as Chief of the Mariano Marcos State University-Center for Iloko and Amianan Studies from 2020 to 2023, Tejano spearheaded initiatives focused on the strategic utilization, development, and management of Ilokano and Northern Luzon knowledge, thereby affirming his position within the academic domain.
Tejano's educational journey is characterized by an ongoing pursuit of a Doctor of Philosophy in Indigenous Studies, completion of the academic requirements for a Master of Arts in Education-Special Education, and the attainment of a Master of Arts in Education-Ilokano Studies, all from Mariano Marcos State University. His foundational academic background includes a Bachelor of Elementary Education-Special Education, also conferred by the same institution.
Tejano has actively participated in various research endeavors, notably leading initiatives funded by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). His contributions as a researcher extend to projects funded by the General Appropriation Act (GAA) for Mariano Marcos State University.
