The Functional Foods and Nutraceutical Research Center (FNRC) proudly announces the recent publication of the research paper titled, "𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒃𝒊𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒄 𝒑𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒍, 𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒙𝒊𝒅𝒂𝒏𝒕, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒊𝒄𝒓𝒐𝒃𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑳𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒃𝒂𝒄𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒔 𝒔𝒑𝒑. 𝒊𝒔𝒐𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝑰𝒍𝒐𝒄𝒐𝒔 𝑵𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒆, 𝑷𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔". The study was published in the Scopus-indexed Tropical Journal of Pharmaceutical Research.

The research explored the probiotic potential, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties of four Lactobacillus isolates obtained from indigenous food plants in Ilocos Norte, Philippines. It highlights the potential of Philippine indigenous food plants as valuable sources of non-dairy probiotic strains and contributes to the growing body of knowledge on locally sourced microorganisms with functional and health-related applications.

The research was funded by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED LAKAS) and received institutional support from Mariano Marcos State University, particularly the Functional Foods and Nutraceutical Research Center, Tuklas Lunas Development Center, Center for Cellular and Molecular Medical Research, and Food Innovation Center.
