Expected Output

This study aims to produce significant deliverables that will have a far-reaching impact on both the educational and technological landscapes of the Philippines, with a strong emphasis on the 6Ps (Product, Publications, Patent, Policy, People Services, Place and Partners) and 2Is (Innovation and Impact) of the Science and Innovation Matrix.

Product: The core product of this study is the development of an Instructional Toolkit Manual specifically designed for BTVTEd and BTLEd pre-service teachers. The toolkit will include AI-powered tools such as a lesson planner, assessment generator, digital teaching aids builder, and reflective journal assistant. This will be available in both printed and downloadable, facilitating lesson planning, assessment creation, and reflective practice for student interns.

Publications: To contribute to the academic and research community, the study will produce research papers that explore key aspects of the project, including the readiness of BTVTEd and BTLEd students for AI integration, the design and development of the toolkit, and its pilot implementation and evaluation. The research paper will be published in peer-reviewed journals or presented at academic conferences. The study will also generate reports and case studies that document the methodologies, findings, and lessons learned, which will be shared with educational stakeholders such as local government units (LGUs), educational institutions, and policymakers to influence future
educational reforms.

Patent: The intellectual property (IP) associated with the toolkit will be safeguarded through patent protection. This ensures that the innovative technology and novel instructional processes developed will be legally protected, allowing for secure copyrights and licensing agreements. The project team will collaborate with intellectual property lawyers to ensure the toolkit and its components are legally recognized and protected.

Policy: The study will produce actionable policy recommendations aimed at integrating AI tools into TVET programs. These recommendations will be directed to key educational bodies such as the Department of Education (DepEd), the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). These recommendations will guide future curricular reforms and professional development initiatives for teachers in the TVET sector.

People Services: The success of this study will be measured not only in terms of technological outputs but also in terms of human development. Through capacity-building workshops and training, faculty, mentor teachers, and student interns will be equipped with the necessary skills to effectively
use the AI toolkit. These workshops will focus on building both digital and pedagogical competencies, emphasizing the incorporation of AI technologies into teaching practices. The study will also create a series of teacher professional development programs aimed at enhancing digital teaching competencies and fostering an understanding of AI applications in TVET education.

Place and Partners: The implementation and sustainability of the AI toolkit will rely on the establishment of strong institutional partnerships with State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), DepEd Divisions, CHED regional offices, and local technical-vocational institutions. These partnerships will be formalized through Memoranda of Agreement (MOAs) to ensure collaboration and long-term integration of the toolkit. Additionally, the project will collaborate with AI developers and educational technology experts to ensure that the toolkit incorporates cutting-edge advancements in AI and pedagogy, enabling it to meet the diverse needs of the TVET sector.

Innovation (I1): The AI toolkit represents a significant innovation in educational technology, offering an integrated solution for lesson planning, assessment creation, and reflective practice. By harnessing AI to automate routine tasks, the toolkit will allow teachers to focus more on the pedagogical aspects of their practice, thereby fostering more dynamic and personalized learning environments. The toolkit will also provide an opportunity for BTVTEd and BTLEd pre-service teachers to engage with AI tools that are set to become an essential component of modern education, setting the stage for future innovations in the sector.

Impact (I2): The impact of this study will be multifaceted. On an individual level, the toolkit will empower BTVTEd and BTLEd students by reducing their administrative workload and enhancing their readiness to enter the teaching profession. It will also increase teacher confidence and competence by providing tools for automated lesson planning, assessments, and reflective practices, which will ultimately improve teaching quality. On a broader scale, the project will contribute to the widespread adoption of AI in educational settings, particularly within the TVET sector, promoting digital learning
environments and AI-enhanced teaching methods throughout the country. The conomic impact of the project will be seen in cost savings for schools and improved graduate outcomes, which will benefit both the education sector and industries requiring a skilled, AI-literate workforce. Moreover, the development of new job opportunities in educational technology will stimulate economic growth and foster innovation in the technology sector.

In summary, this study’s deliverables align with the goals of the Science and Innovation Matrix, with a focus on creating innovative products, building capacity, forging impactful partnerships, and influencing policy to ensure the long-term sustainability and adoption of AI tools in the Philippine education system.
