This project involves 5 studies:

Study 1. Performance of Growing Sheep Supplemented with Pigeonpea Leaves

Study 2. Performance of Sheep Supplemented with Concentrates Containing Ipil-ipil and Pigeonpea Leaf Meal

Study 3. Performance of Broiler Fed with Pigeonpea Leaf Meal (Documentation on the Indigenous Uses of the Native Animals)

Study 4. Pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan) Leaf Meal as Feed Supplemented in Layer Ration

Study 5. Characteristics of Forage Pigeonpea Accessions Under Ilocos Condition

The goal of this project is to establish a pigeonpea production as feed for sheep and poultry.

The project's purpose are:

  • Characterize forage pigeonpea accessions under Ilocos condition
  • Determine the best level of fresh pigeonpea for growing sheep
  • Determine the growth performance of growing sheep supplemented with pigeonpea leaf meal
  • Determine the best level of pigeonpea leaf meal in broiler and layer ration
The expected outputs are:
  • POT for fresh pigeonpea in sheep ration
  • POT for sheep, broiler and layer ration containing pigeonpea leaf meal
  • Brochures
Activities include:
  • Establishment of pigeonpea production
  • Selection of experimental animals
  • Gathering of growth performance and production data

Expected Output

Results will be the basis in formulating ration towards the development of sheep and poultry production.
