Brief Description
This study aimed to document indigenous dances in Paoay, Ilocos Norte and utilize these dances in instruction by incorporating them into the PATHFit dance course being taught in Mariano Marcos State University.  In particular, and in accordance to the project’s theme weaving, this study highlighted on the Binatbatan dance of Paoay, Ilocos Norte.  The researchers conducted a focus group discussion and identified key informants among the municipality’s choreographers and members of the local government unit.  This study explored the history and practice of the dance, along with the other elements such as the costume and equipment, dance steps and physical components involved, as well as the challenges and issues in preserving and promoting the dance.  This study further looked into the qualities represented by the Binatbatan dance that make it a cultural treasure among Paoayeños.
