Brief Description | This project is composed of three studies: 1. Documentation of the Leading Diseases in the Province of Ilocos Norte Documentation and identification of the top/leading diseases in the Province of Ilocos Norte are being done. Data of the morbidity and mortality rates are gathered from the different RHU's in the locality. In consonance, weather data are collected from PAGASA stations. The sets of data are analyzed for their association/relationship using time-series analysis tools. 2. Distribution/Occurrence of the Leading Diseases in Ilocos Norte The study is being conducted in the Province of Ilocos Norte. It seeks to map out and see the distribution/occurrence of the leading diseases as well as geographically locate the different RHU's, hospitals and other medical institution in the Province. Further a database of the different diseases, weather data, medical institutions is being developed in unison. 3. Documentation of the Traditional and Conventional (Indigenous Knowledge) Health Practices with Regard to Weather Extreme Documentation and identification of the community folks' indigenous knowledge/know how is fundamental in our struggle to address the negative effects of climate change. Community folks will be interviewed to elicit information regarding their usual practices in dealing with extreme weather conditions. The data gathered will somehow supplement with the directives currently implementing by WHO with regards to climate change. |
