Biography
Dr. Ina Krista S. Irapta is a physician-academician specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology with strong expertise in Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, and medical education. She is currently an Associate Professor III and Associate Dean at the Mariano Marcos State University College of Medicine (MMSU-COM), where she also serves as Head of the Simulation Laboratory. In these roles, she spearheads curriculum innovation, strengthens faculty development, and integrates simulation-based training to enhance competency-based education in alignment with accreditation standards.
Her research contributions highlight her dual focus on clinical medicine and academic advancement. She authored the case report “Remnant of a Miracle: Conservative Outpatient Management of Retained Placenta Left in Situ After an Undiagnosed Viable Abdominal Pregnancy,” which earned Best Poster Presentation at the ITRMC Interesting Case Competition. Her study on the “Association of Hypertension in Pregnancy with Ocular Fundus Changes” also received recognition as 3rd Best manuscript and as Best Presenter at the POGS North West Luzon Research Competition. These works reflect her commitment to maternal health, women’s health, and evidence-based practice.
Dr. Irapta has also engaged in collaborative research through her partnership with the MMSU Molecular Laboratory, where she contributed as part of the team studying Interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and Interleukin-10 (IL-10) Regulation Reduces Epithelial Inflammation in Mice Using a Topical Cream with Ficus minahassae. This experience strengthened her capacity for interdisciplinary biomedical research. At present, she is also a part of the project “Effectiveness of Lifestyle Medicine Counseling Applying Shared Medical Appointments among Employees with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in a State University in Batac City, Ilocos Norte,” which reflects her commitment to exploring innovative, evidence-based strategies for chronic disease management and community health promotion.
