Biography

       The faculty researcher was born on 4 February 1999 in Quezon City, Metro Manila, and was raised in Brgy. Butubut Oeste, Balaoan, La Union by farmer-carpenter and housemaid. He is the elder of the two children of Alejo S. Casiano and Josefina T. Casiano. 

       He started his primary education at Butubut Sur Elementary School from 2005 to 2011 and completed his secondary education in 2015 at Castor Z. Concepcion Memorial National High School under the Special Science Curriculum. He continues to study at college to pursued a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, major in Crop Protection specialized in Plant Pathology, at Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-North La Union Campus (DMMMSU-NLUC) in Bacnotan, La Union. Despite financial challenges, he worked as part-time janitor in his university. He was a scholar under the La Union Educational Assistance and Scholarship Program (LUEASP) and earned his degree with technical excellence in Crop Protection in 2019. After graduating, he took and passed the licensure examination for agriculturist in the same year. Then, he worked for one year at the Bureau of Plant Industry – Baguio National Crop Research Development and Production and Support Center (BPI-BNCRDPSC) as research assistant, where he was gained both field and laboratory work particularly in plant tissue culture production.

      Driven by his eagerness to pursue higher education, he tried again his fate at the University of the Philippines Los Baños, Laguna in 2021. He pursued a Master of Science in Plant Pathology with focused on Plant Virology, minor in Entomology. He was a DOST-ASTHRDP scholar and a mentee in the UP-Graduate Mentoring Apprenticeship Program (GMAP) under his thesis adviser, Dr. Filomena C. Sta Cruz.
