Dr. Maria Eliza S. Lopez, Associate Professor V, holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Linguistics from Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU). She is the chief of the Sentro ng Wika at Kultura of the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino based at MMSU-College of Teacher Education. She serves as the Program Adviser of the Master of Arts in Education – Wika at Panitikan of the MMSU Graduate School. She also serves as an adviser of action research at the undergraduate level, a major adviser of graduate students in MAED-Wika at Panitikan, and a panel member of thesis and dissertation defenses. Likewise, Dr. Lopez is a reviewer of research articles published in an international citation index journal. She presented and published her research articles in international refereed journal (ASEAN Citation Index), and was awarded Best in Abstract in 2020. Recently, she received the Gawad Lirip 2021, “Masikhay na Pagbabahagi ng Pananaliksik” by the Network of Professional Researchers and Educators (NPRE). Currently, she is the study leader of a research project funded by the General Appropriations Act of MMSU. Dr. Lopez is a writer, author, editor, and consultant of Filipino and Mother-Tongue Based textbooks, a language reviewer of MTB-MLE reading materials, and translator of literary works. Her numerous awards include Most Outstanding Laoageño for Culture and the Arts Education in 2018; Ulirang Guro sa Filipino by the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino in 2019; LEAD National Excellence Award as College Professor in 2020; MMSU Presidential Awardee in 2020; and, Outstanding Educator in Filipino and Luminary Educator in Filipino (Luminary Highest Award) of the Lumina Foundation for Integral Human Development in 2021
