All systems go for the implementation of newly-approved research projects funded through the General Appropriations Act (GAA) this year as the Research Directorate (RD) conducted a virtual inception meeting on March 31, 2022.
Attended by 115 project leaders and staff, college deans and research coordinators, and center chiefs, this inception meeting for GAA-funded projects was the first to be conducted at Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU). In addition, in his welcome remarks, Dr. Bjorn S. Santos, the RD Director, disclosed that the inception meeting had a modified format due to the number of new projects by giving project leaders orientation on the different processes in implementing research in the university. He added that the inception meeting’s goal is to provide project leaders with a good start as they implement their projects. For 2022, 71 are new GAA-funded projects with about 5.2M budget.
Meanwhile, eight topics were presented by the RD team and the accounting office, which include: request for supplies and materials discussed by Ms. Ruby Rose A. Sablot, assistant statistician; request for manpower, particularly emergency laborer contract of service by Ms. Joan A. Abadilla, administrative aide II; request for project deferment or extension by Ms. Evangeline S. Galacgac, science research specialist II; and request for a vehicle by Mr. Rodel C. Cabugon, science research analyst I. Likewise, Dr. Dionisio S. Bucao, supervising education program specialist and the Garlic Research Center chief, also discussed the submission of reports, deliverables, and expected outputs while Dr. Santos presented the monitoring and evaluation process. Moreover, Mr. Mark Ronier P. Vedaña, accountant II, elaborated on the reimbursement and cash advances, and Ms. Lea C.
