Brief Description | The study will involve the use of stem cuttings collected from the identified superior mother trees of dipterocarps and other indigenous timber species found in Ilocos Norte. The different activities will be conducted in the Central Nursery of MMSU from January 2013 to December 2016. Rooting activities and recovery for rooted stem cuttings will be done inside the Glass House located inside the Central Nursery. The following activities below will be laid-out using the appropriate statistical designs and tools and will be replicated three times. Acty 1. Rooting response of stem cuttings of selected dipterocarps and other indigenous timber species to different types, concentrations and dipping time of rooting hormone
Acty 2. Rooting response of stem cuttings of selected dipterocarps and other indigenous timber species to different type and concentration rooting hormone and rooting media
Acty 3. Rooting performance of some indigenous timber species to rooting hormone application (type, concentration) and source of cutting
Acty 4. Effect of seasonal variation and rooting media on the rooting ability of selected dipterocarps and other indigenous timber species
Acty 5. Survival and growth performance of rooted stem cuttings to different potting media and watering frequency
Acty 6. Root growth potential and growth performance of rooted stem cuttings as affected by different rates of fertilizer and GA3 application
Acty 7. Development and vigor of rooted stem cuttings to different hardening practices
|
Expected Output | This study is expected to determine a propagation protocol using stem cuttings. Acty 1. Effective type, rate and dipping time of rooting hormone Acty 2. Effective rooting media and con. of rooting Acty 3. Effective rooting media and con. of rooting hormone and source of cutting Acty 4. Ideal season of propagation and rooting for stem cuttings Acty 5. Ideal potting media and watering frequency of rooted stem cuttings Acty 6. Appropriate nutrient requirement of rooted stem cuttings Acty 7. Ideal and cost effective hardening practice for transplants using stem cuttings |
