Brief Description
This study developed and evaluated the WIN e-Travel Training system, a simulation-based learning platform designed for tourism education and tour guiding practice. It specifically aimed to analyze the system requirements, determine its design, develop and code the application, implement a prototype for testing, and evaluate its usability and educational value.
Findings show that the system successfully integrates interactive training modules, multimedia content, gamified learning elements, and learner tracking features that support a more engaging and structured learning experience. The progressive learning pathway allows users to move from foundational knowledge to municipality-based learning and simulation activities, helping them gradually build confidence and understanding of tour guiding concepts. Users also benefited from features such as virtual tour content, text-to-speech support, and performance dashboards that made learning more accessible, interactive, and self-directed.
Results of the evaluation further indicate that the prototype was generally well-received by users, particularly in terms of its educational value, ease of navigation, and ability to present tourism destinations in a more immersive and contextualized way. The gamification features, including badges, progress tracking, and completion indicators, were found to increase motivation and encourage continuous engagement throughout the learning process. However, some advanced features such as enhanced simulation tools and fully interactive components are still under development and were not fully experienced in the prototype stage.
Overall, the study concludes that the WIN e-Travel Training system demonstrates strong potential as a simulation-based learning tool for tourism education and tour guiding training. However, as it remains a prototype, further enhancement is necessary to fully realize its intended capabilities. It is recommended that future development focus on completing advanced features, expanding content coverage, and conducting more extensive user testing to further improve system effectiveness, usability, and learning impact.
