Dr. Bjorn S. Santos officially took his post as the newly-designated director of the Research Directorate (RD) effective January 17. Researchers and other staff warmly welcomed him at the Crops Research Laboratory, led by the outgoing director Dr. Marilou P. Lucas

Dr. Santos is among the designees for various administrative positions of the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) issued by the University President, Dr. Shirley C. Director Santos currently holds a professor V academic rank under the MMSU Graduate School and is the program coordinator of the Professional Science Masters in Renewable Engineering. He obtained his advanced education, both doctoral and master's degrees in biological and agricultural engineering, at Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, USA. He specializes in power and machinery and renewable energy.

Prior to his affiliation to MMSU in June 2021, Dr. Santos was the University President of the De la Salle Araneta University from 2016 to May 2021.

On his first day as the RD director, Dr. Santos met the full-time researchers via zoom to discuss the calibration for the researchers' targets for their Individual Performance Commitment and Review (IPCR).
