CAS professor joins international conference

A professor of Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) joined an online international conference facilitated by the Department of Biology, IPB University, Indonesia.

James Paul Madigal, of the College of Arts and Sciences, presented his research entitled, “Nipahol –A Locally Formulated Sanitizer/Disinfectant from Nipa Bioethanol amid COVID-19” during 4th International Conference on Biosciences (ICoBio) and the 17th National Congress of Indonesian Biological Society (PBI) 2021 last August 11-12, 2021.

With the theme, “Bioscience Innovations for Sustainable Development Goals,” the two-day event served a fruitful atmosphere of scientific meeting that represents best efforts in facing today's severe issues including poverty, food and feed security, healthcare issue, energy scarcity, global warming, biodiversity loss, and others.

The paper was co-authored by Ms. Thiara Celine E. Suarez, Prof. Jayson F. Cariaga and Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis.

Other researchers, practitioners, students, academicians related to the field of biosciences worldwide gathered and shared information, ideas, knowledge, and research results on the said activity.

Integration of biological field with engineering, information technology, economy, and social sciences may serve as potential strategies to combat challenging issues.
