July 18, 2024

Fourteen research posters from Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) were presented at the 46th Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) of the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) held on July 10-11 at the Manila Hotel.  The MMSU posters were among the 238 research abstracts that qualified for presentation across various categories of the NAST-ASM poster session.

MMSU’s 14 research posters were included in four categories, namely Agricultural Sciences (AS), 4; Engineering Sciences and Technology (EST), 4; Health Sciences (HS), 3; and Social Sciences (SS), 3.

Moreover, 12 MMSU full-time researchers and faculty attended the conference, accompanying their   posters and allowing them to answer the queries of the judges and other spectators and engage with other attendees. Likewise, they also attended plenary sessions featuring keynotes and presentations on groundbreaking research results.

The NAST Annual Scientific Meeting, a significant event in the Philippine scientific community, gathered scientists, researchers, policymakers, and industry professionals from various academic institutions, government organizations, and private institutions, providing a platform for knowledge exchange and recognition of outstanding research contributions. Every year, NAST calls for the submission of research abstracts, which pass through evaluation.  Qualified research abstracts are selected in time for presentation at the annual meeting.  This year’s meeting, themed "Beyond farm productivity: Transforming the Philippine food system to address equity, consumer health, and environmental issues," focused on innovative solutions to complex challenges within the Philippine food system.

The event culminated with the NAST awarding ceremony, recognizing outstanding contributions to scientific research. (LCA)
