RD welcomes 10 new researchers

By: Lea C. Agbigay

On a simple yet memorable occasion, the Research Directorate (RD) of Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) recently held a welcome and orientation program to officially introduce ten newly hired researchers to the MMSU-RD family. These researchers have been appointed to various positions under the RD Plantilla, including science research analyst, science research assistant, and assistant statistician.

The newly hired researchers as Science Research Analysts are Ms. Lei Frances Ribac, Ms. Jimmbeth Zenilla Fabia, and Ms. Rizza Mae Ubado. In addition, Engr. Christopher Zamuco holds the University Research Associate I position, and Mr. Kevin Jude Lasaten is the Assistant Statistician. The new Science Research Assistants are Mr. Bryll Atienza, Ms. Ma. Gloann Longboy, For. Shena Rose Garcia, Engr. Tristan Janryll Mata, and Mr. Orlando Malazzab.

Led by the RD director, Dr. Dionisio S. Bucao, the program commenced by allowing the new and current RD staff to introduce themselves individually to the RD group. This part allowed each researcher to share their academic background and research interests, enriching the collaborative spirit within the directorate. Also present during the program are the center chiefs of the Garlic Research Center, the Natural Resources Conservation and Management Center, the Fabrication Laboratory, and the Social Research and Development Center.

To orient the newly hired and update the existing RD personnel about the University, Dr. Bucao presented an overview of the MMSU and the RD. His presentation highlighted MMSU’s status in the national and global rankings, notable research accomplishments, and the RD’s organizational structure. He also presented the University’s R&D Agenda and emphasized what is expected from them, including the submission of monthly accomplishment reports.

By conducting this program, Dr. Bucao hopes the new researchers will understand the directorate’s expectations and gain a sense of belonging within the research community. The shared information will better prepare them to embark on their academic and research journeys at MMSU.

Dr. Bucao concluded the event with some advice to the new researchers to connect and collaborate with their more senior counterparts in the university. (LCA)
